Minimum Qualifications

Current, unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina. Bachelors in Nursing. Have two years or the equivalent of full-time experience as a registered nurse. Have current knowledge of nursing practice for the registered and the licensed practical nurse.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience instructing students within a clinical setting.

The purpose of this position is to provide quality instruction in the Nursing Program for Clinical studies. Primarily instruction and public service and those forms of research which promote and enhance the college's commitment to excellence in instructions and which supports the current needs of the students and faculty;  curriculum development;  maintaining professional competence;  Faculty members are responsible to a department/division chair or team facilitator, sometimes a coordinator.  The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of leader, teacher, advisor and facilitator of learning.

Nursing Clinical Instructor shall be responsible for:

Working with clinical agencies and nursing faculty in coordinating clinical rotations.

Assisting with and implementing clinical schedules for nursing students.

Implementing course clinical objectives.

Supervising nursing students in direct patient care settings, ensuring that safe and quality care is provided.

Maintaining accurate records pertaining to student progress and achievement.

Completing student evaluations and determination of student clinical grades.

Ensuring that agency, school, and Region A Nursing Consortium regulations and policies are upheld.

Identification of students experiencing academic, attendance, or performance problems and reporting these to course lead instructor/nursing program director.

Attend meetings as requested by course lead instructor/nursing program director.

Satisfy the clinical agency requirements related to the clinical agency requirements related to criminal background checks, immunization status, orientation, and/or drug screening.

Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with clinical agencies and staff.

Assist with simulation lab activities.

Maintain office hours to assist students with clinical paperwork.
