Public Health Research Faculty - FT

This is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Public Health, which requires 50% research and 50% teaching. The appointment is effective August, 2018. The position reports to the Director of the Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Center for the research component, and reports to the Chair of the School of Public Health through the College of Arts.

Qualifications: We seek a candidate with a doctorate, as well as a candidate with evidence of research and grantsmanship productivity and teaching excellence. The successful candidate should be able to develop a productive research program that can attract external funding, involve undergraduate students in research, demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, and participate in university and community service activities.

Experience: Successful candidates should have at least three years as a researcher and teacher. The candidate will teach upper level courses in public health, community heath, and other areas of expertise.

Required/Desired Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

We particularly seek candidates with expertise in the following areas of health disparities research:

Interest and opportunity to train students and conduct research in a facility with state-of-the-art equipment and all the advances in technology.

  2. Make a significant impact in the development and design of training and research in a renovated facility with minority and underrepresented populations that are committed to reducing and eliminating health disparities.
  4. Collaborate with colleagues to develop a program and curriculum with a primary emphasis of extending and involving the Gentilly/New Orleans community in an effort to train and conduct research that will impact locally, nationally and globally.
  6. Work closely with the current Dillard Public Health program to increase visibility in extending opportunities for other colleges and universities to participate in research around environmental and global health.
